The Cardtronics Blog has talked much about the reasons for
and concepts behind the transformation of
the financial institution branch and banking in general. During the Self-Service
Banking Europe 2017 Conference on Tuesday, we were able to demonstrate with
Scotiabank what branch transformation and ATM deployment strategy look like and
the role independent ATM deployers can play in this evolution.
Cardtronics North American Managing Director and Executive Vice President – Financial Institutions Brian Bailey joined with Scotiabank (Canada) Vice President James Popalis to discuss how Scotiabank has faced the challenges of making branches more efficient or meeting customers’ needs for convenient cash access when a branch isn’t readily available.
At left above, Cardtronics' Brian Bailey talks with an RBR conference attendee.
Their primary advice to other financial institutions?
“Financial institutions much compete digitally but maintain a strong physical presence to compete for customers and provide the cash they demand.”
In following its own advice, Scotiabank has a multi-pronged approach:
- Participate in a shared, fee-free ABM (Automated Banking Machine - aka ATM) network in North and South America
- Brand ABMs managed through Cardtronics OnPoint service in a nationwide Canadian convenience store chain
- Design new branches focused on building relationships rather than individual transactions
Bailey wrapped up the session with a brief overview of OnPoint, a branding solution that helps financial institutions expand their brand presence, deliver increased convenience and access to their cardholders, and acquire new customers without capital outlays.
OnPoint is part of
the OnATM suite of secure, on-demand ATM services that allow financial institutions to improve cash and self-service access while reducing costs and refocusing resources on core business initiatives and exceptional customer engagement.
